OUR MISSION

Assist International is a humanitarian organization addressing the needs of the world’s most vulnerable people.

We design and implement comprehensive humanitarian programs in the developing world. These programs focus on five areas:

Water Poverty Solutions Education

Medical Orphaned &
Abandoned Children

Water Photo

MISSION:

Provide clean, safe water to people in the developing world.

THE CHALLENGE
Approximately 1 in 9 people (780 million) lack access to clean water. This fundamental problem leads to disease, lack of education, and poverty.

HOW WE WORK
Local Hospital Partnerships

  • In partnership with the GE Foundation, we install state-of-the-art water filtration units that provide purified water to hospitals.
    • These water filtration units provide clean, safe water to the local community.
    • In order to ensure the success of these programs, we oversee water quality analysis protocols in partnership with local personnel.

Wells & Water Kiosks

  • We also work with our partners to drill wells and construct water kiosks to the local community.

Poverty Solutions photograph
MISSION:
Develop programs that empower the poor to lift themselves out of poverty.

THE CHALLENGE
More than one billion people live on less than US$1.25 per day. Poverty contributes to malnutrition, lack of education, and inadequate healthcare.

HOW WE WORK
We develop programs that create sustainable income opportunities for people in the developing world. More than a simple “hand out,” these programs help people develop marketable skills they can use for the rest of their life.

OUR PROGRAMS

Project 41

  • Project 41 is a program designed to address hunger, malnutrition, and poverty.
  • At the center of Project 41 is the P41 Rainmaker- a bicycle powered irrigation pump that significantly improves water access for small-holder farmers.

Women First Partnership

  • Women First is a non-profit organization that provides business management training and start-up funds to women in Uganda and Kenya.
  • Women First equips women with skills to create small business enterprises, which in turn allows the women to provide for their family.

Education photograph

MISSION:
Increase access to education in the developing world by constructing and supporting schools for children.

THE CHALLENGE
Education is the foundation of a hopeful, productive future, yet in the world today, nearly 75 million children do not have the opportunity to attend primary school. In Africa, one-third of children enrolled in primary school ultimately drop out.

HOW WE WORK
We work with our partners in target countries to construct schools in the developing world. Once constructed, we stay engaged to ensure that the children receive a quality education. Over the years, we’ve built four schools in Uganda and one school in Darfur, Sudan.

Medical photograph

MISSION:
Improve the quality of health in the developing world by providing advanced medical equipment and training to hospitals and clinics.

THE CHALLENGE
Every day, thousands of people die from curable or treatable causes because of a lack of adequate health care. In the developing world, nearly 1 in 8 children die before the age of five.

HOW WE WORK
Identify Needs
Assist International selects projects based on need. Over the years, we have developed strong relationships with local Ministries of Health. Together, we identify hospitals and clinics in need of life-saving improvements.

Coordinate Strategy
We then work with the local hospital to create a project that will greatly improve healthcare in the community. The project is tailored to address the specific challenges faced by the hospital.

Implement Program
Once the strategy has been developed, we work with our partners to provide the required equipment, and we send a team of highly trained medical professionals to install the equipment and train local personnel.

Ensure Sustainability
We build capacity within the local hospital, but we also stay involved by providing additional training, repairs, and consumables.

Orphans

MISSION:
Care for orphaned and abandoned children by developing and sustaining family-style orphan villages.

THE CHALLENGE
Over 90% of orphans in the world live in developing countries. These children are orphaned from such things as HIV/AIDS and armed conflict. With no one to care for them, many of these children suffer from hunger and malnutrition.

HOW WE WORK
We come alongside non-government organizations that care for orphans and abandoned children in the developing world. Our partners work in Haiti, Romania, Uganda, Thailand, Kenya, and Mali. Together, we seek to provide hopeful, productive futures to the abandoned children of the world.

OUR PROGRAMS
Caminul Felix
Caminul Felix is an organization that “gives families to the children of the world” by developing family-style orphan villages. Each orphan is given a mother and a father. Assist International has partnered with Caminul Felix in Romania, Thailand, and Africa.

AOET
AOET (Action For Empowerment) is an organization that cares for nearly 4000 children in Africa. The village houses orphans and widows who have been impacted by the AIDS epidemic.
Over the years, Assist International has provided 18 homes, a high school, and an elementary school to AOET

OUR IMPACT

In 1990...

While visiting Romania with his wife in 1990, Bob Pagett felt compelled to respond to the humanitarian crises he witnessed.

With just a fax machine, a typewriter, and a desire to help the poor and needy in the developing world, Assist International was born.

Today, Assist International consists of two offices, one 30,000 ft. distribution center, 18 full-time employees, and countless volunteers.

We are proud of our history and excited about the future.

"Over 500 projects"
In partnership with foundations, hospital groups, service clubs, corporations, and individual donors, Assist International has completed over 500 projects.Whether it’s building schools for children in Uganda, providing advanced medical equipment in Mongolia, or establishing orphanages in Romania, we strive for excellence and sustainability. For more information, visit our About Us section. Or click the icon for our history of projects. scroll_icon
"In over 61 countries"
From the tip of South America (Punta Arenas, Chile) to the mountains of Bulgaria, our vision is to help the world’s most vulnerable people realize a hopeful, productive future.
