Asiana Education Development (AED), one of the most effective humanitarian organizations in Sri Lanka and the organization that our US Government and Marine Corp used as a first response organization for the tsunami recovery, asked for Assist International's help in the rebuilding of some schools that were destroyed through the tsunami.
With the help of the Haynes Charitable Foundation, Assist International was able to donate to AED $30,000 for the building of the school for the Tangelle District of Sri Lanka. Bob & Charlene of Assist International and Steve and Jan Savelich of the Oregon State Rotary Clubs were able to present a plaque in honor of The Haynes Charitable Foundation to the school officials while in Sri Lanka for two medical projects in September, 2006.
We are grateful to Stan Haynes and the foundation for providing a hope and a future for the children of Tangelle.
