Medical Projects continue to be one of Assist International's highest priorities.
We help install medical equipment in (and give necessary supplies to) hospitals around the world, regardless of politics, religion, economics, or other unimportant factors. The two factors we care about are NEED and SUSTAINABILITY.
- Installing Intensive Care Cardiac Equipment -- Assist International travels around the world extensively installing Intensive Care Cardiac Equipment. In partnership with GE and various Rotary clubs, Assist has refurbished over 30 of the some of the world's poorest hospitals. Professionally trained volunteers install the monitors and other equipment for Cath Labs. By September 2007, medical upgrades were made in hospitals of Djibouti, Mali and Vietnam. - Delivering Free Neonatal Monitors -- Neonatal Monitors are crucial for monitoring the heart rate, respiration and temperature of critically ill new born infants. Many hospitals in third world countries lack the basic medical equipment needed to save lives. Assist International has delivered Neonatal monitors to dozens of hospitals that are behind in medical standards. Doctors can now save the lives of newborns by detecting any early warning signs by using the monitors. Recent projects have helped hospitals in Ghana, Uganda and Sri Lanka. - Fighting HIV/AIDS -- Africa is estimated to have more than 60% of the AIDS-infected population, mostly in countries of the Sub-Saharan region. Assist International has partnered with the organization AOET that assists children with AIDS and forgotten orphans whose parents have died of AIDS. In countries like Uganda and Rwanda, Assist International has sent teams to build homes, schools and churches for the hundreds of displaced children affected by the AIDS epidemic.
