Assist International in Sri Lanka:

Sri Lanka is a lower-middle income developing nation with a gross domestic product of about $25.8 billion. This translates into a per capita income of $1,355. It is a country that has suffered ethnic violence and civil war for the past twenty years.

As the world knows, the Asian tsunami killed 48,000 children and adults. There was mass destruction of homes, towns, schools and most buildings on the coast.

Assist International sent containers of toys, children's clothing and shoes to the victims of the Asian tsunami. Within a couple of months, four water purification systems designed by General Electric were placed in three villages and one orphan village. These systems are providing purified water for up to 20,000 people a day.
